XR (VR & AR) Report on Market Insights and Trends, Q1 2022

Jun 14, 2022 | Author : Karn Chauhan and Harmeet Singh Walia

Overview:

Global XR shipment volume declined by 5% YoY in Q1 2022. VR Standalone, the single biggest form factor, grew marginally, preventing a further annual decline in overall XR market despite every other form factor declining significantly. The biggest contributor of this decline was the VR Tethered form factor which fell by about 40% due to a fall in Sony’s PSVR shipments as many of its users are waiting for its second generation PSVR. The shipment share of VR Standalone form factor reached 91% in Q1 2022, up from 85% in Q1 2021. In the current quarter, nearly 84% of all VR Standalone shipments are contributed to by Oculus, followed by Chinese brands such as Pico and DPVR which contributed about 7% and 6% each.
