In November, in order to kick-off the busy holiday shopping season, US operators participate in Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions to spark sales. The holiday promotion is designed to drive consumers into retail locations on Friday, November 29th (the day after Thanksgiving holiday) for one day only to find products at exceptionally deep discounts.  Some retailers will run the promotion through the rest of the weekend or until the product is out of inventory. Then, on Monday, a new cycle of deeply discounted products are presented for purchase only through the Internet.

The term "Cyber Monday" refers to the first Monday after the US Thanksgiving holiday and Black Friday weekend.  On Cyber Monday, all promotions are Internet-based only.  US operator retail locations were visited on Monday, but it came across to us that store associates were reluctant to talk about the on-line only offers that were not available in stores that day.

A Verizon associate was bold enough to mention the Cyber Monday special, offering to show us the white version of the LG G2 that was deeply discounted (the white version of the LG G2 was not on the show floor).
