The India smartphone market grew 5% YoY in September 2020 as the brands prepared for the festive season. The push from the brands coupled with the pent up demand due to the lockdown and strong sales on online platforms led to this growth.
Also, as consumers are spending more time on smartphones due to increase in content consumption, as well as multiple new use cases such as online education, work from home, smartphone usage as well as demand has gone up. In addition, the brands are providing exciting offers, promotions and cashbacks to drive up the demand.
However, the feature phone market declined 1% YoY as demand in feature phone market remains low. Smartphone penetration remained high at 68%.
