Overview:
The latest research from Counterpoint’s IoT service reveals that the global smartwatch shipments grew 28% YoY in 2019. Apple was leading this segment and grew 35% YoY in 2019. The health/fitness factor, along with features like ECG monitoring and fall detection on the Apple Watch models, have played a key role in driving the consumer decision-making process for adoption of smartwatches. Moreover, the launch of premium subscription services will give users the full utilization of data generated by the smartwatches. Bundling coaching and data analytics services with devices is the way forward for the IoT ecosystem.
