Overview:
With its 4G network roll-out largely complete, Rakuten is now turning its attention to commercializing the network as well as continuing 5G radio deployment. The operator announced a number of initiatives to boost subscriber growth at its retail service and provided news of new broadband and enterprise services due to be launched by the end of the year.
Dish managed to meet the FCC’s mid-June coverage targets by launching its “data-only” 5G service in 27 markets but must now extend coverage to 70% of the US population by June 2023. It also revealed some interesting plans to target the enterprise market.
This report provides a back-to-back review of Rakuten and Dish’s recent First Quarter 2022 Results and provides a detailed insight into the businesses and strategies of the two operators. The report also tracks the progress of German Internet company 1&1 Drillisch as it prepares to roll-out its own open RAN network in Germany.
