Overview:

The first quarter of 2022 was a busy period dominated by the return of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to its usual calendar slot. Major infrastructure themes at the show included private 5G, open RAN and vRAN (including new merchant chip solutions) plus a multitude of announcements on 5G SA core developments. There was also a major focus on “green 5G” with vendors revealing new energy-saving, low emission 5G RAN products and solutions.* 

This Infrastructure Insights report analyses a selection of the key announcements made by major mobile infrastructure vendors during the quarter, identifying key trends and providing a viewpoint on the significance of each announcement. This quarter’s report also includes a new, two-page focus on the quarterly telecom activities of Amazon, Google and Microsoft, which will become a regular feature of the report.
