Overview:
Both Rakuten Mobile and Dish Wireless face stiff challenges in 2022. With its 4G network largely complete, Rakuten must now demonstrate that it has the right commercial strategy to compete against Japan’s big three operators and significantly ramp up subscriber additions. Meanwhile, Dish is facing the daunting challenge of launching commercial services in 27 US markets before its June 14 FCC deadline.
This report provides a back-to-back review of Rakuten and Dish’s recent fourth quarter and full-year 2021 results and provides a detailed insight into the businesses and strategies of the two operators. The report also tracks the progress of Germany Internet company 1&1 Drillish as it prepares to roll-out its own open RAN network in Germany.
