"What started with Apple ditching the headphone jack came as a "tech shock" to many who invested hundreds of dollars in multiple wired headphone brands is now going mainstream. The latest brands to drop the headphone jack are OnePlus and now reportedly even Samsung will, in its upcoming smartphones. This sheds light on evolving vendor strategies to firstly - compete and finally match Apple's strategy of pushing expensive "wireless headphones" to extract some consumer surplus. Secondly, timing it right as most of their user base would have sensed that the move to wireless was inevitable. Having said that, USB Type-C has matured and brands such as Huawei are already bundling Type-C headsets with the devices. This move showcases an upcoming inflection point for wireless headphones and a boost to AI-powered hearables." - Neil Shah (Source: Mac Rumors)

"Volvo’s CEO Hakan Samuelsson is expecting Volvo to make more money by selling autonomous cars than by taking a cut from the higher margin data-driven services. The company has realised that its strength lies in building cars and not in data services. Volvo, along with Nissan has allowed Google's software to take control of the operating system including mapping, navigation and apps. This is in stark contrast to many automakers who are forging commercial partnerships to sell connected services rather than allowing tech companies like Google to be directly involved."  - Aman Madhok Source: Transport Topics

"Chinese brands have begun to experiment with a lot of differentiated design elements, from in-display fingerprint readers, 7nm SoCs, foldable displays, six cameras, multiple notches, infinity displays to motorized pop-up camera and now dual-displays. The rate of innovation among Chinese brands has been rising rapidly as they have a strong command, scale and R&D prowess to challenge likes of Apple and Samsung. What this means is that Chinese brands like OPPO, vivo, Huawei are going for the kill especially in the premium Android space to gain mindshare and market share, especially in the high ASP Western markets after having captured Asia, India and the China market. This is great for Western operators as well to gain some exclusive models from these brands to drive differentiation." - Neil Shah  Source: GSM Arena
